ST.CLAIR COUNTY
Quality of Life
St. Clair County is located in the southeastern part of the Lower Peninsula, bordered by Lake Huron on the northeast, the St. Clair River on the east, and Anchor Bay and Lake St. Clair on the south. The county contains 734 square miles and is the 24th largest in the state with a population of approximately 8,500. Farmland occupies about 40 percent of the land, about equally divided between crops and livestock. Manufacturing activity includes auto-related products, plastics, metal forgings and stampings, and non-electrical machinery. The abundance of lakes, including Lake Huron, make St. Clair County a perfect spot for outdoor recreation activities as well as make St. Clair a premier location for waterfront homes.
Education
Marine City takes pride in providing its students with a top quality education. Dedicated teachers are only one part of the community effort to ensure each student has a safe learning environment in which they are challenged academically. We provide a variety of extra-curricular after-school and summer programs including league sports, camps, day-care, theater, music, art and more.
Parks and Recreation
Marine City maintains 26 acres of the County's approximately 327 acres of parkland. Nine facilities consisting of eight small parks and the Guy Community Center make up our park system. With year-round programs including swimming, swimming lessons, water exercise, lifeguard training, basketball, men's softball, weight training, golf lessons, kiddy art, playgrounds, T-Ball, floor hockey and heart-warming annual events, there's something for Mom, Dad, and the kids.
Arts and Culture
Bowling is always a popular social activity, but if you're not in the mood, Marine City has a variety of entertaining alternatives. The St. Clair Art Association showcases artists each month in their gallery, changing in the summer to feature nautical art. They offer art education classes and an art fair with contests, exhibits and entertainment.
