Parks and Recreation
The City of Farmington Hills offers more than 628 acres of open space specifically designated for public use. Several recreational facilities, like the Costick Activities Center, offer the full spectrum of recreational activities, events, programs and services, such as: a swimming pool, multi-use gymnasium, three soccer fields, large meeting rooms that you can rent for a minimal fee, and so much more! The City organizes a number of activities for all-ages including bowling nights, summer camps, after-school programs, league and team sports, and " Safety Town " for the younger children. In addition to recreational activities, some special events are hosted each year including campouts, barbeques and holiday parties.
Arts and Culture
Our fine city enjoys several locations with visual art exhibits throughout the city and in the Costick Center . Our exhibits are constantly changing as we feature both local and touring artists and exhibits. "Art on the Grand" is a juried fine arts fair, presented by the Special Services Department in cooperation with the Farmington Area Founders Festival, and held annually during the third week in July. It promotes fine artists from across the country, working in various media, including paintings, sculpture, fiber, ceramics, glass and photography. The Costick Center also offers classes in art education, for instance: paint, clay, mixed media, doll making, jewelry, Motown Ballroom dance, middle-eastern dance, guitar, Kelly Kirby piano for children, Suzuki violin, and more.
